Hi! I'm Sanya Ghai.
I curate high-impact programs in social policy & development.
About Me
Hello, I'm Sanya. I curate high impact driven programs in the social policy and development space. I help design and manage programs [at times build products too] in the space of gender, education, rural development, environment, and sustainability.
I am an experienced evidence-based intersectional researcher working with policy for advocacy and building self-sufficient systems.
I have partnered with the government and studied large scale pilots, led CSR projects, built scalable campaigns with local systems and on occasion engaged with impact-based storytelling.
Currently, I am:
Managing end-to-end CSR programs and contributing to ESG reporting at Panasonic India. [Full-time role]
Team Lead at Pratisandhi Foundation for Peer Education and Awareness, responsible for driving curriculum design, projects and facilitation for students, teachers and parents. [Part-time; passion project with a passionate team]
Currently focused on:
- Program Management
- Program design
- Policy research
- Impact evaluation
- CSR & ESG Reporting
- Stakeholder engagement
Where IMPACT has taken me.
It all started when I was 16 and led a team to engage with children from underserved communities, through life skills and extracurricular programs.
Programs in Rural Odisha
Built understanding about ground realities of indigenous communities in Odisha over a span of 6 months as a State Bank of India – Youth For India Fellow (SBI YFI Fellow) by working closely with local communities, District Magistrate Office, Block Development Office, and Block Education Officer. I worked with young people towards access to education and livelihood opportunities.
Waste Management in Informal Settlements of Kanpur
Ekjut Kanpuriya, 'for the people, by the people', initiative to mitigate the waste problem of informal settlements that has an unparalleled impact on health in Kanpur. Developed a program to incentivize ambassadors from communities to engage through training and lead change in their communities through waste management practices, engagement with local government bodies and street art.
Panasonic Ratti Chhatr Scholarship Program
Management of a country-wide scholarship program for IIT students from underserved backgrounds and economically weaker sections, with preference to Persons with Disability and transgenders. Led the program from ideation to implementation stage with final selection of 10 students from a pool of over 1700 applicants.
Climate & Gender Research with UNFPA
Research work in collaboration with UNFPA studied diverse ecologically vulnerable areas such as Sundarbans, Bihar, Odisha, Uttarakhand and Rajasthan, to study the relationship between climate change and gender and its overall impact on child marriage.
E-waste Recycling and Circular Economy Consumption
As a part of ESG and CSR measures undertaken, I worked on developing frameworks for e-waste management, sustainable practices and energy conservation at the organization and extended year-long citizen engagement by spreading awareness and implementing initiatives.
Lighting Up The Future through Sustainable Energy
Through ground-research and established parameter matrix, I identified villages with limited or no-access to electricity and located beneficiaries with preference to households with young and school going children, women and the elderly. The initiative provided access to sustainable electricity sources for 400 households in the form of solar lanterns.
Social Storytelling and Filmmaking
In collaboration with the Panasonic Holdings Corporation in Japan, I led a filmmaking and active citizenship program, Kid Witness News, across Delhi NCR. The program was embedded in leadership, understanding of social issues, storytelling of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and technical filmmaking training for school students. After helping India win at the Global Summit, some students have decided to pursue professional filmmaking courses.
Beyond Traditional Learning
Over the last 3 years, I have worked with several government and private schools across India to curate curriculums and programs for students, teachers and parents. I have completed over 200 workshops on the themes of comprehensive sexuality education and environmental stewardship, including having designed a game on tracking carbon-footprint with the Max Mueller Institute and writing a book on the ecology of Sariska Tiger Reserve for student expeditions. I have also worked with school institutions and teachers to build safer classrooms.
